This reading program is for students ingrades 4 to 8, and allows students to represent their school at a friendly competition that takes place in April. (Think Jeopardy, but with books!) All Durham Region public libraries are supporting this program at the Junior (grades 4, 5 & 6) and Senior (grades 7 & 8) divisions.

This program supports childhood reading and literacy. Battle of theBooks allows students to explore new authors and titles in an encouraging environment with some friendlycompetition to keep interest piqued!

Battle Coordinators may register teams by doing the following:

• Visit the Battle website at bookbattle.ca.

• Click on the Register tab.

Contact us if you do not receive a response within five business days. Please remember to register separately for the Junior division (Grades 4, 5 and 6) and the Senior division Battles (Grades 7 and 8).

Want more information? Need help registering a team for Brock Township?

Please contact Jen Fulop, Coordinator of Outreach and Programming, jenfulop@brocklibraries.ca.

Next competition will be Spring 2025.

Children 2-5 will get ready to read before they start school with interactive stories, fingerplays, puppets, rhymes, dancing, and music in this virtual program. It has been created with the Every Child Ready to Read initiative in mind.

TD Summer Reading Club is an inclusive program that strives to engage all children in the joy of reading during the summer months while championing Canadian writers and illustrators. Children who register for the TD Summer Reading Club at their local library receive free program materials and are encouraged to read books over the summer. They are also invited to participate in programs organized at their local library and share their love of reading with children across the country through the TD Summer Reading Club website.
