Spirits, Psychics, and Angels: How the Great War Haunted the British Empire
Between 1914 and 1918, over 900,000 men from the British Empire were killed in the Great War. Half of these men have no known grave, their bodies eviscerated by shell fire or buried in successive artillery bombardments.
In the aftermath of this 'vanishing act', people flocked to seances to talk to the dead. They reported seeing the ghosts of their loved ones in dreams and in photographs. On the battlefields, soldiers reported strange visions and premonitions and some attributed their survival to guardian angels and psychic powers.
Join in this fascinating talk with Dr. Kyle Falcon and learn how a war involving tanks, submarines, machine guns, and airplanes also stimulated popular interest in spirits, psychics and angels.
